New TDLR CE Requirements – Effective Sept 1, 2025
Human Trafficking & Sanitation training are now required for all Texas cosmetology & barber license renewals.
What Changed?
Licensees Under 15 Years
Must complete 4 hours of CE every two years:
- 1 hour Sanitation
- 1 hour Human Trafficking Prevention
- 2 hours Cosmetology or Barber-specific topics
Licensees 15 + Years
Must complete 2 hours of CE every two years:
- 1 hour Sanitation
- 1 hour Human Trafficking Prevention
How This Affects You
These changes apply to everyone renewing after September 1, 2025.
If you’ve been licensed under 15 years → You now need 4 hours of CE every two years, including 1 hour of Sanitation and 1 hour of Human Trafficking Prevention.
If you’ve been licensed 15 years or more → You now need 2 hours of CE every two years, including 1 hour of Sanitation and 1 hour of Human Trafficking Prevention.
Even experienced professionals with 15+ years must now take both Sanitation and Human Trafficking Prevention training every two years — where previously only Sanitation was required.
